To Catch a Thief - Diamonds

diamond studs

Hi Girls

I love diamonds, you love diamonds and of course Marilyn loved them so much that she sang about them. One of the most famous jewel thieves of our time didn’t hold them in much regard but she made a career of swiping them before local and foreign jewelers knew what hit them.

Doris Payne made a career out of permanently borrowing diamonds from only the finest jewelry stores in the world. She began her thievery as a teenager, crafting her appearance and her mannerisms to fool jewelers into thinking she was a wealthy woman simply out to add jewels to her collection. She was so charismatic, in fact, that she has been called a female Carey Grant. Despite several arrests and her current incarceration, at age 75, she carried on, loving the game more than the money.

Now no one can condone this woman’s actions but you have to say that she definitely had a passion for jewelry! I mean who among us hasn’t looked in a jewelry store without longing for a certain piece of sparkly jewelry and diamonds do have a certain seductive charm all their own.

diamond earringsFortunately most diamonds are so affordable now that we don’t have to resort to Doris’ tactics or reap her reprisals. Gorgeous diamond studs can be had for less than a hundred dollars.

diamond rings And beautiful diamond rings, like she coveted can be had for just a few hundred dollars.

And if you get the itch to make a Doris play, simply go out and rent To Catch a Thief with Carey Grant and watch it while wearing your most fabulous diamonds and jewelry.

MTV Music Award Bling Bonanza - Can You Say Diamonds?

Tuesday, June 5th, 2007

Hi Girls

pink diamondThe stars were out at the MTV Music Awards and they were flashing their diamonds at the cameras. Jessica Simpson, for example, sported a 22 Carat Diamond Ring. And Lil’ Kim was pretty in pink with her 26 carat pink diamond ring. I haven’t seen a rock that big since the Pink Panther.

And don’t think the guys were left out of this bling fest. P. Diddy wore about $8.4 million dollars worth of diamonds including a 23 carat yellow diamond ring.

Flash or Tacky? That’s for you to decide. I just know that the stars should be wearing their shades at these events from now on.

diamond ringThis woman embodies casual elegance. When you look at her you don’t just see her jewelry but the whole package. It isn’t enough to own jewelry and wear it. It should be paired with your outfit in such a way that it seems like a natural part of you.

diamond necklaceThe next time you put your jewelry on take a moment to really pair it with your outfit. Does it seem to go naturally with it or are you simply choosing it because the colors match. Vintage Diamond Rings are Always in Style

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

Hi Girls

vintage diamond ringVintage rings are hot right now in Hollywood. The Oscars were sprinkled with vintage picks and some of the latest engagements were heralded with vintage style.

vintage necklaceVintage jewelry just looks classier. It has that ” I have a history and perhaps a wicked past” kind of feel. This jewelry has seen things that you haven’t, has been passed down as a treasured gift or as a symbol of someone’s love.

Now if you haven’t found a piece of jewelry buried in some lost love letters in your grandmother’s attic or if some hot young celeb hasn’t decided to jet over and present you with part of Elizabeth Taylor’s famous collection, you can still get the look. And the best part is that it won’t cost you a fortune.

vintage necklaceVintage looking jewelry is all the rage and pretty easily discovered. Add a simple vintage style necklace to your wardrobe and suddenly you become a woman with a past. A woman with a secret life and perhaps a lover hidden away somewhere.

Trust me. Wear an interesting piece of jewelry and both men and women will flock over to find out a bit about it. The men will even use it as their rapport building pick up line. See for yourself.

How to Choose an Engagement Ring

Sunday, April 22nd, 2007

Hi Girls

Tis the season for engagements, it appears. So far three of my friends have gotten engaged in the last few weeks. Is it the change of season, global warming, an increase in sappy romantic movies? Who knows. But one thing is for sure. Choosing an engagement ring is not to be taken lightly.

Let us start with the type of rings available. You have your basic square cut, diamond cut, oval or circular diamond rings to choose from.

Here are some examples:
square cut diamond ring
round diamond engagement ring
emerald cut diamond engagement ring

You then need to decide if you want a traditional diamond ring or a more modern one. The setting you choose has a lot to do with that.

Finally, you need to decide on pricing, because price affects the type of materials used and the size of the carat. It will also determine whether you choose to add stones to the sides of the diamond, as well. Naturally the larger the diamond the more expensive.

If you can’t afford a large carat diamond, you can dress up your smaller carat diamond with some beautiful but lower priced stones to each side.

Take your time. You don’t have to pick the first ring that you see. Choose one that you will happy with today, tomorrow and for the rest of your lives.
