I saw the most darling little necklace on My Jewelry Box. It has a cameo pendant of a mother holding her child and it is absolutely gorgeous and not too expensive either.

I mean what mom wouldn’t want something like this? Even better would be to give it to a friend who has just had a baby. Kind of a welcome to motherhood gesture.

Anyway, just thought I would share. You may want to hurry though. This piece is so perfect for Mother’s Day that they may sell out soon.

Tis the season for engagements, it appears. So far three of my friends have gotten engaged in the last few weeks. Is it the change of season, global warming, an increase in sappy romantic movies? Who knows. But one thing is for sure. Choosing an engagement ring is not to be taken lightly.

Let us start with the type of rings available. You have your basic square cut, diamond cut, oval or circular diamond rings to choose from.

You then need to decide if you want a traditional diamond ring or a more modern one. The setting you choose has a lot to do with that.

Finally, you need to decide on pricing, because price affects the type of materials used and the size of the carat. It will also determine whether you choose to add stones to the sides of the diamond, as well. Naturally the larger the diamond the more expensive.

If you can’t afford a large carat diamond, you can dress up your smaller carat diamond with some beautiful but lower priced stones to each side.

Take your time. You don’t have to pick the first ring that you see. Choose one that you will happy with today, tomorrow and for the rest of your lives.

When I think of pearls, I think of Audrey Hepburn or Jackie O. Apparently though this classic has made a come back on celebrities as young and hip as Lindsey Lohan. She was seen wearing a simple, yet elegant pearl drop necklace.

Obviously not her grandmother’s pearls, these were strung simply and elegantly, allowing the actual necklace to show.

With mother’s day coming up, my shopping genes are firing up. I hate fighting crowds at the mall, so most of my shopping is done online nowadays. It is so much more convenient.

Last year I gave my mom a gorgeous teal dress that looks fabulous on her but sits in the back of her closet most of the time. The year before that it was a hand held organizer that she stared blankly at before thanking me. This year will be different though. She always complains that I spend too much on her and she won’t wear jewelry that is “too fancy” so I am going the fabulous but frugal approach this year.

The Crislu Collection features gorgeous costume jewelry. It looks like diamonds but at a fraction of the price. This way she can wear it whenever she wants and if she loses it, it is no big deal.

Hi all

Did all of you see Jennifer Lopez’ bangles on American Idol recently. She looked fabulous. That bohemian look really suits her. These type of bracelets really make a statement. They say,” Look out world. I am going to have some fun.” Or at least that is what they have always meant to me.

I think bangles with a peasant style skirt and form fitting white top can look sensational, especially if you pair them with some fun sandles.

Or you could go for a more sophisticated look if you are going out. Perhaps wear only one or two with some sort of funky design.

Either way it looks like bangles are back, front and stage.
